Season's Greeting

O Mannequin, o Mannequin,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren:
Die Hoffnung und Beständigkeit
Gibt Mut und Kraft zu jeder Zeit!
O Mannequin , o Mannequin ,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren!

  1. Google translation:
    O Mannequin, Mannequin o,
Your dress wants to teach me was:
    The hope and resistance
Courage and strength at any time!
    O Mannequin, Mannequin o,
Your dress wants to teach me something!

Please! That is SO plebeian a translation! I am beginning to wonder now if you are mistakenly translating what are truly good poetic expressions into French or German or whatever to cloak them into something that you think they should be?

  2. This time it's just silliness, Will. Since Daughter sent me pic of makeshift Xmas tree I tried substituting "Mannequin" for "Tannenbaum" and found it rhymed better --with "lehren"-- than the original in the 3rd verse of that song --"O Tannenbaum"--which is otherwise unchanged.
