Asteriated Droplets
Rain beaded on
A lilac leaf, an
Astragal of spheres
Strung along outer
Space, arranged in
Years to hold drops
Of time, minute stars,
To bend the leaf --
To keep this universe
Of ours inflating
In shade, after rain
And not evaporating.
No rain here ... yet ... but snow is melting ... Love, cat.
ReplyDeleteDear Cat, Considering the rain we've had concludes an 8-year drought in California, I'm ecstatic. Be happy in your Canadian snow. I wish we had more here this year --in our Sierra-Nevada Range, which would promise more water in the valleys, but it seems weather heals slowly.
DeleteThat’s a beautiful poem Geo. And Norma’s picture is no slouch either.

Thanks, Rick. I need all the encouragement I can get right now. Norma thanks you too.
DeleteThose droplets look like jewels....
ReplyDeleteThey do, don't they, Delores. Norma is a morning girl and goes out to find things like that. I just worry about plumbing until noon --and after.
DeleteWhat an amazing photo! And a reminder that nature came up with all the good shapes.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is a wonderful accompaniment and analogy. I'm glad you are getting some rain.
O_Jenny, our rain has run out this month, but we have a good snowpack in the Sierras that will visit this valley over the summer. Read your compliment to the photographer, who thanks you.
DeleteYes, you captured so well - in photo and verse - the worlds inside one raindrop. Love this, Geo.
ReplyDeleteBe well, dear friend.
Dear, dear Robyn, thanks for the lovely compliment. It comes at a much-needed time. Our hot water tank has not worked for three days and there's a leak we haven't found yet. Come to think of it, this could be a good metaphor for world affairs.
DeleteIt always fascinates me how nature's patterns and themes repeat no matter what the size and context. Lovely poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jenny, I suspect the universe is organized in a way that allows it to express itself in plants, in cells -- in little. Likewise we can follow its tremendous operations through ampliative induction. An amazing study is constantly presenting itself.
DeleteOh how utterly delightful...a miniature Universe upon a single leaf!
ReplyDeleteOh WOW... truly mesmerising!!☺☺
Thank you, Ygraine. It is fun find the cosmos done in little.
DeleteAbsolutely JOYFUL words
