43-Year-Old Crack Up

When Dianne and Veronica saw me
On the front stoop with suddenly no
Mustache, they ran over from their
House in socks and cracked up,
Which caused our own son to crack up,
Which made Norma crack up too.
It was 1971 and we cracked up
Easy, but I grew my mustache
Back so people would take me
Seriously --not sure it worked.

  1. Having seen only one picture of you, learning that you shaved it off once is bit of a shock :-)

I love your hair at the time. Love is too moderate a word here.

  3. It's very easy to feel naked and vulnerable without a mustache (I know from experience). Cute photo!

1971 - - wow, they were the good ol' days.

  4. Well, it was an experiment. Good thing facial hair grows back.

  6. In India in 1971 most men had mustaches. My husband shaved his when we went to England and when we went back to India to visit every one laughed. Your poem reminds me of that day.
    Your family is very cute.

    1. Thank you! It still amazes me that our son, pictured on Norma's lap will be 44 this year, and the little neighbor-girls are close to 50. My mustache, it is gray!
