Recombinant Cooperage
Yesterday or tomorrow We work in undone barrels-- Believing in wine-future, Wine-done and, at this juncture Reuse bilge hoops set, reset, Into spheres and domes-- serving Garden hearts and homes.
Kind Jenny, I have relayed compliments to the artist. Don't know if we still have gnomes out there. We used to have one. I was always afraid of falling and getting impaled by its hat --that would be a hospital novelty. We do have St.Francis out there, and Buddha, but they look silly in pointy red caps.
Sounds delightful, Prof. St. Francis and gnomes share the peaceful quality of coexistence and never pull each other's hair --unlike certain Handel operas that costar 2 sopranos.
cooperage I had an idea about...recombinant, well, I had to look it up. Garden art is such a lovely addition to one's yard. All I have is a cement rabbit.
As you doubtless know, Delores, it takes experimentation. Norma's "Dome" began as a sphere, but collapsed under it's own confusion from not binding barrel staves but being on its own. I often feel the same way.
Re-purposing at its finest!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't you have worked "gnome" into that last set of rhymes? I suppose that assumes you HAVE a garden gnome :)
Lovely lines with food for thought, Geo.

DeleteBeautiful words again! Your art is a joy to read.
ReplyDeleteWe have St Francis AND a gnome in our garden. I like the gnome because he is smoking a pipe. St. Francis has some good qualities too, I suppose. :)

DeleteNot only is that a beautiful photo but, a beautiful poem as well!
ReplyDeleteMost kind and encouraging, Lon. Thanks.
Delete"Garden hearts" - I really like this.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Geo. The photo intrigues me too and works perfectly with your words.
Be well, friend.
Most kind and much appreciated, Robyn.
DeleteYou made me smile...I too live in an undone barrel...and I like it that way.
ReplyDeleteBe well.
Barrel hoops are springy, and puzzling to work with --and always have some surprise moves left over-- which is close to defining FUN.
